About interesting career-related topics…

The topic that I want to talk about is Documentary Film.

Why? Because that’s what we have been studying during all these months! No fiction-films, everything has to be taken from reality. At the beginning, it seemed boring and more related to journalism, which we don’t like at all. But, as time passed and we learned more about the “magic” of documentary, I realized that I like it, I like to go and look for what I want to film in the outside, to learn how to find emotionality in the people you film, how to tell the story in a way that can be easily understood and it is also beautiful. It may sound strange, but I love to find myself in front of a computer, not knowing how to make the story, how to mix different shots and sounds, where to put the music, and start giving sense to all what I’m going to show to other persons. That’s the challenge, to make people not get bored by watching the reality that they see everyday, try to make it dynamic and full of sense and wonders, to be able to see the meaning under everything and think about what’s happening around. Not to make a speech using the film, but to tell a story using your point of view. Another way of making cinema, another beautiful way of making cinema.

Recommended Web Sites in my Area

I choose three websites in –I admit it- a random way, because I’m not used to visit web pages that are related to my career. Don’t ask why, I just see mi e-mail and dedicate my time to chat with friends. When I’ve got to work, I visit some new websites, but they are the same most of the time. Ok, first I’ll talk about YouTube. This is an interesting website because you can watch any type of videos that you like, for example you can watch a funny and stupid video made by an idle guy, or you can watch a movie in parts, or maybe an interesting shortcut.

Also, I think this website might be interesting because you can get a lot of information about different film festivals around the world

http://www.filmfestivalstv.com

And guess what, I found in this very website a comment about chilean cinema, and that's very interesting too!

Finally, I want to put this link for one of the best websites when you talk about film information. I admit that I haven't visited it too many times, but from what I heard it is veeeeery interesting:}

That's all!

Periodical Visit (correction of a classmate's post)

In my last weekend (May 1st to the 4th) I travelled to Punta Arenas: My home. I went to spend the Worker's day off (May 1st) and the rest of the weekend with my family, on the other side of the country. I haven't seen them for months, I hugged them tight, I kissed them and I showed them a few goods. They told me that I have matured a lot since the beggining of the last year, when I was starting college away from home, but that it was good to see that I was still their daughter and sister and not someone completely different. Besides sleeping, eating mom's homemade food, playing videogames with my sisters and her friends, and staring at the motionless street, I didn’t do anything in particular. I just hung out with them as long as I could, to "charge my energy batteries", so to speak, and finish this period without having another nervous breakdown.
They are my little sisters:
Katherine on the left,
Nicole on the right.

See you soon.

Tell me about your last weekend... (This is the one)

Ok, I will talk about Friday too. I went to a class where I had to make a dissertation with other classmates and it didn’t go well, so I felt very sad and upset and I didn’t want to do anything else but going home and get into my bed. But alter that, I went to a coffee shop with some ex-classmates from high school that I haven’t seen in a long time and everything changed: I felt so happy to be there talking about stupid things and laughing as we used to do before.

And after that, I went to take a drink with some of them and then I went to a concert with a classmate. The band is called Miranda.

I had a lot of fun there too.
On Saturday, I spent the whole day making a documentary shortcut with some classmates. I liked to do that, the story we filmed is very interesting. Here is a picture of the girl who was the protagonist.

And well, on Sunday I went to work and it wasn’t fun at all, I didn’t earn too much money and I worked ten hours.
Now I’m here, and I just want to go to bed

A song I like: Stay - U2

I choosed this song because it brings to my mind some memories of the times I made my fourth shortcut. Besides, I like it because of the movie called “Wings of Desire”, the song belongs to the soundtrack of it.
I also like a lot of songs of U2, this band plays really good music and keeps on creating different types of emotions and atmospheres through their songs, despite of all the years they’ve been on stage.

Stay lyrics:

Green light, Seven Eleven
You stop in for a pack of cigarettes
You don't smoke, don't even want to
I see you check your change
Dressed up like a car crash
The wheels are turning byt you're upside down
You say when he hits you, you don't mind
Because when he hurts you, you feel alive
Is that what it is?

Red lights, grey morning
You stumble out of a hole in the ground
A vampire or a victim
It depend's on who's around
You used to stay in to watch the adverts
You could lip synch to the talk shows

And if you look, you look through me
And if you talk it's not to me
And when I touch you, you don't feel a thing

If I could stay... then the night would give you up
Stay, and the day would keep its trust
Stay, and the night would be enough

Faraway, so close
Up with the static and the radio
With satelite television
You can go anywhere
Miami, New Orleans, London, Belfast and Berlin

And if you listen I can't call
And if you jump, you just might fall
And if you shout I'll only hear you

If I could stay... then the night would give you up
Stay then the day would keep its trust
Stay with the demons you drowned
Stay with the spirit I found
Stay and the night would be enough

Three o'clock in the morning
It's quiet and there's no one around
Just the bang and the clatter
As an angel runs to ground
Just the bang and the clatter
As an angel hits the ground

Some information about myself?

Ok, so this is the time to tell you who I am.
My name is Nikole, I'm nineteen, and I am studying Cinema at Universidad de Chile. I'm from Santiago, Chile, that's the city where I was born and where I study.
My hobbie is to walk down the street, always with a destination, the farter is this, the better, because I enjoy just sitting and listening to the music in my mp3. Ok, that's enough for today!

My expectation with blogs is to have something interesting to talk about, so the people who read this can have a nice time doing it. Nah, really, I like to write blogs, but in this occasion I'm not feeling too creative. That's all :)
